MASON, JOHN FREDERICK The death of John Frederick Mason of Fredericton, NB occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Friday, January 12th, 2007. Born in Falkland Ridge, NS in 1926, he was the son of the late Harold and Georgie (Brown) Mason and the husband of Connie (Archibald) Mason. Brought up in Lunenburg, N.S., he graduated from Mount Allison Academy Business Course in 1945. He was in the Merchant Navy for two summers. He was two years with General Trust, 26 years with IAC. He spent those years in several cities in Eastern Canada, including Fredericton, which was his favorite. He came back to Fredericton in 1973 and was 12 years in the motel business before retiring. His passions were golf, carpentry and sailing. He bought his first sailboat at the age of 12 and had to even cut a tree to make the mast. Survived by four sons, Andrew Mason (Susan) of Fort Irwin, ON, David Mason of Calgary AB, Peter Mason of Toronto, ON and Donald Mason (Joan) of Fredericton, NB; eight grandchildren, Julie Czarnecki (Peter), Lori, Matthew, Daniel, Alex, Kristen, Jessica and Patrick; one sister, Gertrude Mason of Halifax, NS; one brother, Bill Mason (Maureen) of Granite Springs, NY. Predeceased by his parents; one sister, Marguerite and one brother, George. Visitation will take place at McAdam's Funeral Home on Monday, January 15th, from 7 to 9 pm . A memorial service will be held at the J. A, McAdam Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, January 16th, 2007 at 2:00 pm. Rev. H.G. MacKenzie and Rev. Paul Ross will officiate.
