Marsh Robert (Bob) John Marsh, age 83 of Medicine Hat, passed away at St.Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon on September 20, 2008 after developing complications following surgery. Bob was born in Moose Jaw, June 6, 1925 to Reginald and Clara (Blumberg) Marsh, the eldest of seven children. He grew up in Moose Jaw and graduated from high school at Central Collegiate in 1943. He joined the army and, though never sent overseas, remained in the service until his discharge in 1945. Bob then set his sights on a university education and worked a number of jobs in Moose Jaw to enable him to afford his goal. He enrolled in the College of Commerce at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, and obtained his B.Comm. degree in 1949. Back in Moose Jaw, Bob met Edith Dickson and they married in 1951. He obtained his Chartered Accountant designation that same year and was ready to embark on his career. Over the next few years, Bob and Edith raised a family while Bob worked accounting positions in Victoria and Moose Jaw. In 1966, the family moved to Swift Current where Bob joined the accounting firm of Wik, Jeffery, Stark & Mabbs. He later decided to establish his own practice in 1975. Bob's practice grew as new partners came on board, leading to an eventual merger with another Swift Current firm. Stark & Marsh Chartered Accountants, as it is now known, employs more than fifty people and serves the entire southwest corner of the province. Edith passed away in 1985 after thirty-four years of marriage. Four years later in 1989 he married Arleigh Johnston. They resided in Swift Current until his semi-retirement in 1998 at which time they moved to Medicine Hat. Bob kept his hand in the accounting business, never quite retiring fully until recent years. Bob took up the game of golf as a boy and it became an avid, lifelong pastime. He enjoyed golfing and the fellowship that came with it. In his prime, he regularly scored near par and was proud of his three hole-in-ones. Over the years, Bob encouraged people to play the game, mentored young players, and volunteered his time on golf committees. He was always tinkering with clubs, forever on the lookout for that elusive perfect set. Bob also loved music and owned an extensive record and CD collection. He was a self-taught harmonica player. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Reg in 1979 and Clara in 1986, wife, Edith, in 1985, sister-in-law, Ardis Marsh, in 1996, a stepson, Stan Fandrich, in 1997, brother-in-law, Myron Moulding, in 2003, youngest sister, Jean Mulvaney, in 2005, and brother-in-law, Art Dickson, in 2008. He is survived by his wife of nineteen years, Arleigh of Medicine Hat, his sons, Dave (Sheena) of Saskatoon, Doug (Carolyn) of Saskatoon, and Paul (Virginia) of Regina; Dave's children: Keith (Shana), and Laura (Brendan), Doug's children: Rob, Kevin and Daniel; Paul's children: Catherine and Brennan; his step-children Dawn (Ray) Desetaul; Glen Fandrich; Stan's children: Jason Fandrich, Andrea (Thane) Koberstad, Crystal (Ed) Quiroz-Borrero; Dawn's children: Todd (Tammy), Trevor,and Kristen. Great-grandchildren: Jason's children: Skylar and Reese Fandrich; Andrea's Children: Desiree, Reegan, and Paige Koberstad; Crystal's children: Mercedes, Berlin, and Sanai Quiroz-Borroro; Todd's children: Kelsey and Cherron Desautel. Also surviving Bob are his sister, Dorothy Moulding, brothers, Roy, Fred (Sheila), Earl (Jean), and Ray (Alvera), brother-in-law, Tom Mulvaney, sister-in-law, Anne Dickson, sister-in-law, Jean (Hal) Willison, as well as many nieces and nephews. A memorial service celebrating Bob's life was held in Medicine Hat on September 26, 2008.
