GARNET MURRAY MACKINNON

MACKINNON, GARNET MURRAY The passing of Garnet Murray MacKinnon, husband of Helen (Hayes) MacKinnon his wife of 68 years, of Tay Creek, NB, occurred on March 19, 2007 at his home. Born on June 9, 1914 in Tay Creek, NB, he was a son of the late Laughlin and Margaret (Wield) MacKinnon. Garnet was a Pole Setter for NB Power, also worked at the Service Centre in Marysville and a member of the Sterling United Church, Tay Creek, NB. He enjoyed gardening and horses. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mavis Clarkson of Tay Creek, Sylvia Astle (Bill) of Fredericton; three grandchildren, Angela Clarkson, Lee Clarkson (Melanie) and Lisa Stairs (Matt); four great granddaughters, Nicole, Alicia and Chandler Stairs and Bailey Clarkson; several nieces and nephews. Garnet was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, John; four sisters, Annie, Dorothy, Alma and Myrtle and his son-in-law, Gordon Clarkson. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Thursday, March 22, 2007 at 10 am with Rev. Murray McFarlane officiating. Interment will take place at Sterling United Church Cemetery, Tay Creek, NB at a later date.
