Bill will be greatly missed by many cousins, friends and colleagues. Bill was born in Fredericton on August 28th, 1942. He attended schools in Fredericton and later joined the Royal Canadian Engineers after which he worked for the Department of Natural Defense as a cartographer. He retired from the Federal Government in the mid 1990's and started his own cartography business where he worked with many military authors to complete maps for their manuscripts, some of them being Retired Major General Louis McKenzie, Pierre Burton, Dr. Mark Milner, Sean Maloney, Harold Margolien, Ian Campbell, Canadian Geographic, Herbert Wood, Craig Mantle and J.L. Granstein. He was known for the detail included in the maps which he drew by hand, being an art form that is now mostly drawn by computer. Bill was dedicated to his community of Ottawa and as a result, was awarded the Queen's Jubilee Medal for his service. He was involved in countless activities with Kin Canada for over three decades and served as President of the Ottawa Club, the District Executive, culminating as District 6 Governor in 1989. Bill received his Life Membership in Kin Canada in 1986. One of Bill's greatest achievements was creating a close association between Kin Canada and the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation during the 1980's while serving as the Foundation's National Vice-President. Bill was instrumental in raising money for the research that eventually led to the discovery of the gene responsible for cystic fibrosis. Bill later joined Operation Go Home and spent 2 years as its President. During that time, he raised public awareness of the Ottawa organization and was successful in promoting its 5 pillars - drop in, education, employment, outreach and reunite. Bill gave more to his community than his time having made more than 100 blood donations to the Canadian Blood Services. Bill's funeral was held at Tubmans Funeral Home in Ottawa on Saturday, May 5th, 2007. Internment will take place at the Fredericton Rural Cemetery on Thursday, May 10th, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. Anyone wishing may make a donation to the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or Operation Go Home. www.mcadamsfh.com
