GILLINGHAM, ROBERT EDWARD The passing of Robert Edward Gillingham, of Fredericton, NB husband of Joan Gillingham, occurred on Friday, May 25, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on June 16, 1926 in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, England. He was the son of the late Edward and Ada (Hill) Gillingham. He served with the British Marines and the British Police before coming to Canada in 1954 where he served with the Canadian Military. Robert retired from the military and worked for the Province of NB Department of Justice. In addition to his wife Joan, Robert is survived by his daughter, Frances Toole (Philip); son, Robert Gillingham (Susan); daughter-in-law, Anne Gillingham all of Fredericton, New Brunswick; grandchildren, Derek, Michelle, and Corey Toole, Geoffrey, Jennifer, and Zachary Gillingham, Michael, Nicole, Heather and Andrew Gillingham; great grandchildren, Connor and Aiden Toole. Besides his parents, Robert is predeceased by his son, James Gillingham. Although there will be no visitation a funeral service will take place at York Funeral Home's, T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Monday, May 28, 2007 at 11 am with Canon Bill MacMullin officiating. Internment will follow in the Saint Francis of Assisi Cemetery, Lincoln N.B.
