ROBERT MCLEOD NICHOLS
NICHOLS, ROBERT MCLEOD Beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home in Lincoln, NB, on June 2nd, 2007, at the age of 86. Born in Brockway, NB, Bob was the son of the late John and Lou Nichols (McLeod). Bob is survived by his wife of 65 years, Hilda (Vail); four daughters, Carolyn Gordon (Harry) of Lincoln, Mary Morton (Randy) of Kingston, Ont, Debi Munn (Rob) of Lincoln, and Barbara Nichols of Lincoln; five granddaughters, Patti Gordon, Krissy Tully (Gordon), Darla Morton, Roberta Morton and Ashley Munn; three great granddaughters, Holly, Samantha and Emma; and one niece, Nancy Davies of Calgary, Alta. Bob was predeceased by his parents; and sister, Margaret Brown. Bob served with the Armed Forces from 1940-46, 1954-70. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in France, Holland, Belgium and England with the Service Corps. After retiring from the Armed Forces, he worked for Paul Burden Ltd and eventually moved to the provincial Dept of Transportation until 1985 when he finally retired for good. Bob was a Life Member of the Oromocto Legion Br #93. Bob was a family man enjoying family get-togethers and teasing the grandchildren. He also enjoyed vegetable gardening, euchre, harness racing, country drives, picnics, church suppers, western paperbacks, baseball and Hockey Night in Canada. Visitation will be on Monday, June 4th, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm at the Oromocto Funeral Home, 108 Winnebago Street (357-5100). The funeral services will be conducted from the Lincoln Baptist Church at 11 am on Tuesday, June 5th, with Reverend Harold Sparkes officiating. Interment will follow at the Brockway Cemetery, Brockway, NB. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #93 will hold a tribute service at the funeral home on Monday evening, June 4th at 7 PM.
