HARRY GRAHAM
GRAHAM, HARRY Beloved husband, father and grandfather Harry Graham of Fredericton passed away at home on June 8, 2007. Born in Belfast Northern Ireland in 1922, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Dunn) Graham. He was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Lois (MacDonald); as well as brothers, Jack, Ronald, Sam; and sister, Pansy Gibson. Harry is survived by his three sons, Gordon of Mississauga ON, Ian (Sherry) of New Maryland NB, and Glenn (Susan) of Halifax NS; and his grandchildren, Sydney, Bailey, Samantha and Owen. Trained as a machinist at Harland & Wolff's Belfast shipyards, Harry came to Canada in 1948. He worked for Avro Aircraft, becoming the President of their Machinists' union local 717(Turbo) of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. Representing thousands of machinists during the development of the Avro Arrow, Harry was cheered from the dignitaries' podium during the official roll out of the Arrow - the most advanced aircraft of its day. The next stage in Harry's career was as a member of the Executive of the IAM. In 1971 he brought his family to Fredericton, and continued in this role until his retirement. Harry continued to maintain his connection to Ireland and his relatives abroad. He and Lois traveled extensively through Europe with the Fredericton Lawn Bowling Club, and Harry always maintained a passion for Irish music. Visitation will be at McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home Monday June 11 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be Tuesday June 12, 2007, 2 pm at Wilmot United Church, Fredericton NB.
