VERA ELMIRA (MOREHOUSE) GALLAGHER
GALLAGHER, VERA ELMIRA (MOREHOUSE) The passing of Vera Elmira (Morehouse) Gallagher, wife of the late Ottie Gallagher, occurred on Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born April 5, 1920, in Stone Ridge, NB, daughter of the late Jesse and Dora Morehouse and wife of the late Ottie Ross Gallagher. Vera was a member of St. John Evangelist Church, Fredericton, past president of St. John's Guild and past member of the Nashwaaksis Lionettes Club and Imperial Rebecca Lodge #102. She was an avid bowler for many years, loved to play Bingo and did a variety of needlework including quilting. She also loved to cook, along with being a meticulous homemaker. Vera enjoyed her last few months at the Cutis Special Care Home and really appreciated all they did for her. She is survived by three children, Marie Merrithew (Fred), Mae Goold (Ron) and Dale Gallagher (Marlina) all of Fredericton; ten grandchildren, Deborah Owens (Joe) of London, On, Michael Merrithew (Louise deGrandpre) and Constance Merrithew (Kevin Deeprose) of Toronto, ON, Steven Barr (Toby) Moncton, NB (Her Special Caregivers) and Donna Penney (Derek) of Fredericton, Fred Barr (Jane Nichols) and Derrick Barr (Helen) of Saint John, Richard Gallagher (Lynn) and Patricia Dupuis (Des) of Fredericton, Martina Gillies (Shawn Wyle) of Windsor, NS; eighteen great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter, Rebecca Andersen; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-laws including one special sister-in-law, Edith Gallagher and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, Vera was predeceased by three brothers, Melvin, James and Eugene Morehouse and infant sister, Clara. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Wednesday, September 5, 2007 from 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at the St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church on Thursday, September 6, 2007 at 3:30 pm with Canon Bill MacMullin officiating. Pallbearers for the service will be Steven, Fred, Derrick and Andrew Barr, Richard Gallagher, Desmond Dupuis, Michael and Derek Penney. Interment will take place in the church cemetery.
