BETTS, MARY MARGARET The passing of Mary Margaret Betts, of Doaktown, NB wife of Sterling Betts, occurred on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at the Central NB Nursing Home. Born on December 11, 1917 in Doaktown, NB, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Hannah (Lyons) Porter. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed cooking and knitting. In addition to her husband Sterling, Mary is survived by daughter, Joan Hatfield (Harland) of Truro, NS; sons, Ray (Lorenda) and Murray Betts (Lana) of Doaktown, NB; 13 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her step-father and her mother, Mary was predeceased by her sons, Norman and Howard Betts. Visitation will take place at Miramichi Valley Funeral Home, New Bandon, NB on Thursday, September 13, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at Miramichi Valley Funeral Home on Friday, September 14, 2007 at 2 pm with Rev. J. A. Treese officiating. Interment will take place in Doaktown United Baptist Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances made to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
