& Jean Gunn Roy passed away on August 7, 2008 in Edmonton, AB at the age of 87 years. Jean passed away on November 11, 2008 in Gravelbourg, SK at the age of 86 years. They are survived by their daughter Linda (Clifford) Johnstone and son-in-law Roy Eykelbosh; four grandsons Andrew, Corey, Kelly (Dawn) and Scott; one granddaughter Jessica; three great-granddaughters Alex, Malysha and Royanne; Jean's two sisters Dorothy Osler and Merle Tysdal and goddaughter Larissa Fadish; nieces and nephews. They are predeceased by daughter Janice Gunn-Eykelbosh; Jean's sister Margaret Spears; Roy's brother Clifford Gunn and sister Dorothy Patterson; three brothers-in-law Ralph Osler, Gordon Tysdal and Jim Patterson. Roy was born January 6, 1921 on the family farm at Shamrock, SK.. He was born with a physical disability which he overcame with great determination and surgery at the age of six. He left home at the age of sixteen by train to Moose Jaw to find work. He worked for BA Oil (now Gulf Oil) in Moose Jaw before transferring to Edmonton in 1970. He enjoyed travelling, music, loved all sports, especially hockey, Thereon Fleury and the Calgary Flames being his favourite. He loved all his family dearly. Jean was born December 19, 1921 in Moose Jaw, SK and was raised there. She loved playing the piano, she played by ear, gardening, animals, especially cats, she took in a many of strays and had many cat related treasures; she was devoted to her church. She was a wonderful caregiver to her family; she was selfless, always thinking of others before herself. Roy and Jean met while both working at a munitions factory during WW II in Moose Jaw. They were married February 27, 1943. They loved to travel going to Hawaii 15 years in a row and Europe twice. They attended symphonies and planned holidays around attending the Moose Jaw Band Festival. They loved to watch all sports and were intelligent fans; they golfed together for many years. Family was most important and dear to them. A Graveside Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at Rosedale Cemetery, Moose Jaw at 2:00 pm with Pastor Wendell Bailey officiant.
