Akins Ruth passed away on Friday November 14, 2008 in Moose Jaw. She was born to Richard and Clara Livesey at Stone Hey Farm, Huncoat Lancashire, England. Ruth's family moved to Moose Jaw when she was about seven years old. In 1941 she married Gordon Wilkinson of Tuxford where they lived and farmed until Gordon's death in 1966. Ruth then moved to Moose Jaw where she joined the Royal Purple and curling club and was an active participant. She also worked at Eatons for a short time. In 1979 she married Gordon Akins, the spent their summers in Moose Jaw and winters in Texas until Gordon's death in 1988. Predeceased by her parents; brothers: George, Jim and Art, daughter-in-law, Grace Akins; granddaughters: JoAnne Ludwar and Nicole Akins; five brothers-in-law and five sisters-in-law, Ruth leaves to remember her: step-children Dale and Wendy Akins, Garry and Beth Akins, and Grace and Victor Taylor. She also leaves eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren, one brother-in-law, three sisters-in-law, eight nieces & nephews and ten great-nieces & nephews. A Service of Remembrance will be held at the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel on Thursday, November 20, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. Reverend Marilyn Keerak will officiate. Memorialization of cremated remains will follow at the family plot, Moose Jaw Cemetery. Memorials in memory of Ruth to a charity of one's choice would be appreciated.
