Date de naissance : 28 mars 1924
Date de décès : 17 novembre 2008
Phyllis Mary Sagal (nee LaLonde) died peacefully with family by her side, on Monday November 17, 2008, at the age of 84 years. Phyllis was born in Moose Jaw on March 28, 1924 and grew up in Marquis. She took a machinist course at Moose Jaw Tech and was a "war worker" in a gun factory in Toronto. She returned to Marquis in 1943 and married Amil Sagal. They went on to enjoy more than 59 years of togetherness. Phyllis' life centered around caring for her family, home and community. The organizations that benefitted from her generous donation of time and energy included the C.W.L., 55 Plus Games, several charities and school committees. Some of the activities that brought joy in her life were gardening, sewing clothes, curling, round dancing and spending time at the cabin surrounded by her family. She encouraged her children to become involved in all sports and music activities, leading through example, which included taking up downhill skiing at the age of fifty. Predeceased by her husband Amil in 2003, her parents Elizabeth (Cannon) and Francis LaLonde and daughter-in-law Suzanne, she will be lovingly remembered by her eight children: Eddie, Vicky (Larry Watson), Regina (Garth Hendry), Doug (Marilyn), Leon, Stan (Tracey Sinclair), Mary B. (Bruce Murray), Michelle (Shannon Pearce) and daughters-in-law Donna Kurtz and Chris Hill; 35 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. An Evening Prayer Service will be held at St.Joseph's Roman Catholic Church on Friday November 21, 2008 at 7:00 pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Church on Saturday November 22, 2008 at 2:00 pm. Father Francis Folleh will be the Celebrant. Interment will take place at the Marquis Cemetery at a later date. Memorials to the Alzheimer Association, or St.Joseph's Church Restoration Fund, would be appreciated. In living memory of Phyllis, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home. Please sign the memorial register book at website: www.wjjonesandson.com (Obituaries).
