BENSON (BENNIE) H. PARKER

PARKER, BENSON (BENNIE) H. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Benson (Bennie) H. Parker, following a brief battle with cancer at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, on November 17, 2007. Bennie was born in Carroll's Crossing, NB. He was the son of the late Murdock and Violet (Lyons) Parker. In his younger years, Bennie was a member of the Doaktown Fire Department and St. John Ambulance and a member of the Doaktown Athletic Association. Bennie served on the Doaktown Village Council for a total of 22 years, 13 of these years he served as mayor, making him the longest serving mayor. He also designed the first Village Logo. He worked for Russell & Swim Lumber and Acadia Pulp & Paper. He was a plumber and carpenter and was an avid guide and Fisherman. Bennie loved playing his guitar and violin. He was an excellent drawer and enjoyed writing poetry. He is survived by his wife, Thelma (Doak) Parker; one son, Barry. He was a dear grandfather to Mandi and Rodney, who were his pride and joy; one sister, Carol Robinson; two sisters-in-law, Patsy Parker and Lottie Storey (Russell); two special great grandchildren, Alexis and Corbin; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Frankie. At the request of the family there will be no visitation. The Funeral Service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from Davidson's Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor John Treese officiating. Burial will follow in South Road United Cemetery.
