DIGIACINTO, MARIE GAÉTANE The passing of Gaétane DiGiacinto of Fredericton, N.B., wife of A.M. (Sandy) DiGiacinto, occurred on Friday, December 7, 2007 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born in Ste. Anne de Madawaska N.B. on September 13, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Damase and Febrenie (Michaud) Fournier. In addition to her husband, Gaétane is survived by two sons, Richard N. (Colleen) and David A.(Brenda), both of Fredericton; two daughters, Christine F. (Robert) Coghlan of Hanwell, N.B. and Valerie G. (Philippe) Héroux of Moncton, N.B.; grandchildren, William and Monica DiGiacinto, and Caden and Mario Coghlan (with two more grandchildren expected). She is also survived by brothers, Odéo (Rina) Fournier of Ste. Anne de Madawaska, N.B., and Jacques (Rita) Fournier of St.Jacques, N.B.; sisters, Réjeanne Fournier of Van Buren, ME, U.S.A. and Lisette (John) Hutchins of Ottawa, Ont.; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, Bertrand, Réjean and Reno; sisters, Simone Couturier, Rose-Anna Michaud, Cécile Fournier, Claudette Fournier, and Marie-Reine Fournier. Gaétane was a teacher by profession. On the birth of her first child, she devoted all of her time to raising her four children. She began her career after high school, teaching on a certificate in Ste.Anne de Madawaska. In 1968, she graduated from teachers college and taught in Saint John and Fredericton Junction. In 1976, she obtained her Bachelor of Education degree from St Thomas University and in 1984 she obtained a Masters in Education from U.N.B. She resumed her teaching career first by being a substitute teacher and then full time in Fredericton schools. When she retired from teaching, she worked for a brief time for Canada Post. Gaétane wished that we express her appreciation to Dr. Imbulgoda and all the health care providers at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital for the care and kindness which was shown to her. Although there will be no visitation at Gaétane's request, a funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday December 15, 2007 at Sainte-Anne-Des-Pays-Bas church Priestman St. Fredericton with a reception to follow. For those who wish remembrances, donations to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
