WALTER CARNEY MCGINN
MCGINN, WALTER CARNEY It is with great sadness that the family of Walter Carney McGinn announce his passing on December 8, 2007 after a courageous 6 month battle with lung cancer. With his daughter by his side, Walter passed away peacefully at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Leaving behind his wife of 51 years, Jean (Caverhill) McGinn; his son, Tom and wife Norine; daughter, Christine Kelly and husband Andrew. Walter has also left four grandchildren that meant the world to him, Sam, Alexandra and Christopher McGinn and Sarah Kelly. Walter is also survived by his brother, Mike and wife Carol, Arnprior, ON; sisters, Clarice Roxborough and Dorothy Walker both of Fredericton, Maureen Fantin and husband, John, Coniston ON; his sister-in-law, Isabel Caverhill, Fredericton; and brother-in-law, Malcolm Caverhill, Peachland, BC; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, Walter was predeceased by his brothers, Robert and Pat; and his step mother, Beatrice (Kenny) McGinn. Walter was born in Fredericton July 17, 1929 to Walter McGinn and Hazel (Burlock) McGinn. Walter was a graduate of St. Thomas University, Chatham N.B. He was retired from Tractors & Equipment where he worked for 31 years. Walter lived life to the fullest. He loved to hunt and fish and always enjoyed his trips to the Napadogan with friends, family and grandkids, and he loved to snowmobile in the winter. He and his wife Jean were members of the Micmac Trailer Club and very much enjoyed their summers by Lake George. Walter also enjoyed his daily coffee outings with his Tim Horton's buddies. Walter was known for his practical jokes and very kind heart, he was always the first to lend a helping hand. Walter will be greatly missed by his family and friends as he touched many lives. Visitation will be held at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, on Tuesday, December 11, 2007 from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St Dunstan's Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at 12pm with Rev. Gerald M. White officiating and Father Monte Peters assisting. Interment will take place in Hermitage Cemetery, Fredericton, NB at a later date. Pallbearers will be nephews Bob, Kenny, Richard, and Mike McGinn, Allison Whitehead, Tom Mann, George Guimond and Ernie Brown. Honorary Pallbearers will be Alfie Doucette, Lester Fraser, Dick Edgar, Leo Currie, Warren Mitchell and Dr. Ron Murphy. For those who wish, remembrances made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of the donors choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
