DONALD WILLIAM HODGSON

HODGSON, DONALD WILLIAM Donald Hodgson passed away peacefully at home in North Vancouver on December 8, 2007. He was born November 19, 1934 in Saint John, New Brunswick, the son of the late T. Clifford and Clara Hodgson. He will be fondly remembered by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Joan; his daughters, Valerie and Melissa; his son, Andrew (Kally); grandchildren, Taylor, Trevor and Jade; siblings, Irene Livingston, John (Nadia), Janet (George) Hazen, Arthur (Michelle) and June (Wayne) Bennett. He was predeceased by his brother, Rae. Many students in West Vancouver (Hillside, West Van High), New Brunswick, Quebec and the Canadian Air Force Base in Grostenquin, France were inspired by Mr. Hodgson as their teacher and mentor throughout his 40-year career in education. During his lifetime he enjoyed extensive travel throughout Canada, the United States, Europe, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia. Donald will be remembered for his quick wit, acerbic sense of humor, love and knowledge of gardening (Hostas, Dahlias), golf, photography, wine making, photo editing, sports and sports trivia, Latin and the Classics, literature and a wide variety of music and cinema. A memorial service was be held Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at 2 pm at St. John the Evangelist Church at 220 West 8th Street in North Vancouver. Donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor's choice.
