MASON, BRIAN RALPH Nov 4th, 1946 to Dec 28th, 2007 40-year Department of National Defence (DND) Employee. Brian passed away suddenly but peacefully surrounded by his family, having lived these past 28 months with Stage IV Colorectal Cancer. He lived every moment positively and with great spirit. He is survived by his loving wife, Mavis Ann (Hignell); his daughter, Stephanie Joy; his son, David Andrew; his father, Ralph Hugh; his sister, Joan Margaret (Bryant); eight nephews; five nieces; four brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law. He is predeceased by his mother, Bertha Eileen (Allison), and his sister, Sandra Mary (Emmet). Brian worked in DND as an auditor in Fredericton, NB and in Ottawa, ON, and later as an accounting systems analyst. He was transferred within the department to CF Communication Command (CFCC) where he was the senior finance officer in the Comptroller Branch. Later, with a re-organization within DND, he was employed as senior finance officer in the Defence Information Systems Organization (DISO), and later as Deputy Comptroller in the ADM Information Management Group. Through his 40 years with DND he had many experiences travelling to every province in Canada (including trips to Inuvik and the northernmost site - Alert), various places in the USA, Germany (including East/West Berlin), Egypt, Israel (Golan Heights), Syria, Italy, Switzerland and France. During his career, Brian obtained the CGA designation and was outstanding in his field. The funeral will be held in Ottawa.
