RETA JANE (NEE KENNEY) BAKER

BAKER, RETA JANE (NEE KENNEY) Reta passed away unexpectedly on the night of December 14, 2007 at North Vancouver's Lion's Gate Hospital. She was 71 years of age. Born June 28, 1936 in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, Reta worked assorted jobs until leaving eastern Canada in 1963 to start a new life in BC with her husband and toddler. His work took the family to Vancouver, Powell River, Prince Rupert and Penticton, with the family eventually settling in Burnaby until their divorce in 1980. During her life, Reta worked both in hospitality and warehouse production capacities until disabled by chronic asthma. She served as a volunteer for a number of organizations until her death. Reta was an avid card player, crossword puzzle practitioner and enthusiastic member at her assisted living complex. Reta is predeceased by her first son, Frank; father, Franklin Kenney; mother, Rita; and Reta's partner, John Sharhon. Survived by son, Randy and wife, Brenda; three grandchildren, Graydon, Roland and Hudson; ex-husband, Tom; Cousins, Ann, Lucille and Marlene; long-time friends, Helen Tessla and Sylvia Wendling; and numerous other relatives, friends and acquaintances. A gathering to celebrate Reta's life will be held at 1250 Cedar Village Close, North Vancouver, Saturday, January 5th at 2:30pm. Donations gratefully accepted to the Canadian Red Cross or charity of your choice in Mother's memory.
