MARY MYRTLE MOSS
MOSS, MARY MYRTLE The death of Mary Myrtle Moss occurred on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at the Nashwaak Villa, Stanley. She was the youngest daughter of William T. and Elizabeth (Gordon) Griffin was born on September 10, 1911, in the Griffin family home at Cross Creek, NB. She grew up there and received her education in Cross Creek school and then Stanley High School walking over two miles every morning and evening. At the age of sixteen she attended Fredericton Business College and received her diploma as a stenographer. Following her education she worked as a secretary at various secretarial jobs and as a secretary for her father who established the fishing and hunting lodge on the Miramichi River in Boiestown known as the Griff Inns. She travelled to Boston, New York and Philadelphia as secretary to the minister of tourism, promoting the Outfitters business of NB. Mary was a gifted poet and writer, a talent she inherited from her father. Her family treasure the scrapbooks and stories compiled, recording local history and family genealogy. She supported and encouraged her family in all their endeavors keeping them in her prayers. She enjoyed gardening, especially her flowers. Mary enjoyed travelling with her husband Bob, to Western Canada to visit her two daughters and their families in Alberta. They made many friends during these visits and were gracious hosts to many Alberta folk who visited them in NB. She was a faithful member of St. Pauls Anglican Church and was made a Life Member of the ACW. She was an active member of Women's Institute, The Golden Age Club, and Home and School. She is survived by three daughters, Marie (Hal) Hoffman of Lethbridge, AB, Betty (John) MacGillivray of Stanley, NB and Rosemary Ingraham of Arrowwood, AB and one son, Bill (Donna) of Cross Creek, NB; 12 grandchildren; 15 great great grandchildren; two nieces and one nephews and their families. She was married to Robert Moss, a farmer who was her next door neighbor in Cross Creek. Mary was predeceased by her husband Robert in 1990; her sisters, Alda Davis and Josephine Thorn; her brother, Preston Griffin; a chosen brother, Alton Logan; son in law, Gordon Ingraham. Visitation will take at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Saturday, February 2, 2008 from 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Cross Creek, NB on Sunday, February 3, 2008 at 2 pm with Father Ranall Ingalls officiating. Interment will take place in St. Paul's Anglican Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances made to the St. Paul's Anglican Church Memorial Fund, Cross Creek or charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
