MARY GERTRUDE (GOUGH) REED

REED, MARY GERTRUDE (GOUGH) The passing of Mary Gertrude (Gough) Reed, wife of Rev. Howard P. Reed, of Noonan, NB, occurred unexpectedly on February 17th, 2008 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on July 12th, 1917 in Upper Caverhill, NB, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Sadie (Knox) Gough. She was a member of Capital Community Church, Downing St., Marysville. Mary attended Emmanuel Bible College, Newcastle Bridge, for two years. She was a faithful companion and helpmate for 70 years, working side by side with her husband, in their many years of Pastoral Ministry. Mary was noted for her talent in singing, playing piano and accordion. She will be remembered for her love of people and hospitality. Besides her husband, Rev. Howard P. Reed, Mary is survived by three daughters, Florence Mills (Phillip) of Marysville, Necia Dobson (Larry) of Fredericton, Connie Smith (David) of Fredericton; son-in-law, Kit Brown of Cumberland Bay; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one daughter, Darlene Brown; two sisters, Alberta Brewer and Ruby Barbour; four brothers, Charlie, Herbie, Arthur and Sterling. Visitation will take place at Capital Community Church, 71 Downing St., Marysville, NB on Tuesday, February 19th, 2008 from 7 to 9 pm and Wednesday, February 20th, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from Capital Community Church on Thursday, February 21st, 2008 at 2 pm with Rev. Phillip Mills and Rev. Raymond Woodward officiating. A reception will follow. Interment will take place at Scotch Settlement Cemetery, NB at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances made to the Northeast Christian College building fund would be appreciated by the family.
