HAZEL ADELE HAWKINS (NICHOLSON)
HAWKINS (NICHOLSON), HAZEL ADELE The passing of Hazel Adele (Nicholson) Hawkins, wife of the late Elwood Hawkins, occurred on February 19, 2008 at Pine Grove Nursing Home. Born on August 22, 1909 in Lake George, NB, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Hannah (McCutcheon) Nicholson. Hazel was previously the Fountain Manager at the Metropolitan Store on Queen Street. She was a member of Keswick United Baptist Church where she played the organ and was a Sunday School Teacher. She belonged to a sewing circle, was involved in the Mission Band and supported under privileged children in Foreign countries. Hazel is survived by three daughters, Alice Moore of Mouth of Keswick, Edith Gallagher of Fredericton, June Brewer (Francis) of Burtts Corner; two sons, Paul Weed (Barbara) of Comox, BC, Michael Stairs of Sheffield; daughter-in-law, Barbara Hawkins of Sydney, NS; sister-in-law, Dianna Nicholson of Vermont; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and nieces, nephews and also she mothered several foster children. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by one son, James Hawkins; four brothers, Wallace, Harold, Joseph and Elmer Nicholson; half brother, Donald Nicholson and great grandson, Patrick Gallagher. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Thursday, February 21, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from Keswick United Baptist Church on Friday, February 22, 2008 at 2 pm with Pastor Stephen Matthews and Pastor Jonathan McKay officiating. Interment will take place in the Mouth of Keswick Cemetery, NB at a later date.
