DAVIS, DAYTON RICHARD Dayton R. Davis of Acton, NB passed away March 20, 2008 at the Harvey Community Hospital, Harvey Station, NB. Dayton was born in Acton on May 14, 1922, a son of the late Murray R. and Ethel G. (Coffey) Davis. He was a member of St. Andrew's United Church, the Harvey Volunteer Fire Department, the Harvey Curling Club, the Harvey Jersey Breeders Club and a life member of Cherry Mountain Masonic Lodge #50. Dayton worked as a farmer, carpenter, CPR carman, licenced hunting guide, in lumber camps and a wing-man on the Department of Transportation plows. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, M. Emma (Cunningham) Davis; three daughters, Margaret Roy (Jack), Cheryl Coburn (Tom) and Lynn Hutchin (Bill), all of Acton; a son, Richard Davis (Wendy), Acton; his grandchildren, Justin, Angela, Letishia, Christel, Dayton, Amy, Dave, Geoff, Mike, Joe and Matt; great grandchildren, Bradshaw, Christopher, Allison, Ethan and Carter; a sister, Elma Black, Harvey Station; a brother, Doug Davis (Pauline), Hanwell, NB; a brother-in-law, Don Garwood, California and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Dayton was predeceased by a sister, Helen Garwood and an infant brother, Donald Davis. Visitation will be held at the St. James Room of St. Andrew's United Church of Canada, 1985 Route 3, Harvey Station on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Masonic service will be held in the sanctuary of the church on Saturday at 6:45. Funeral service will be held from the church on Sunday, March 23, 2008 at 3 p.m. with Rev. Kay Clowater officiating. Interment will be later at Acton Cemetery For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Dayton, the family has suggested Harvey Outreach, St. Andrew's United Church Building Fund or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Honorary pallbearers will be Bernie McCann, Emile Doucette, Ronald Little and Richard Feeney. Active pallbearers will be grandsons, Mike Davis, Dave Hutchin, Dayton Coburn, Joe Davis, Justin Roy, Matt Davis and Geoff Hutchin.
