CUMMING, PROFESSOR BRUCE Passed on peacefully in Victoria on February 20, 2008 at the age of 82. He is survived by his close, loving family: wife Marion, sisters Eve and Diana, Diana's husband Neil, and cherished nieces, nephews and cousins. Bruce's undergraduate years at Reading University were followed by a Ph. D at McGill and research at Harvard. During his professional career as a plant physiologist he worked at Agriculture Canada in Ottawa, followed by a focus on plant rhythm research and teaching at the University of Western Ontario and the chairmanship, teaching and research at the Department of Biology at the University of New Brunswick. His writing and teaching latterly focused on practical horticultural and agricultural applications of his earlier research. He actively supported causes relating to indigenous culture and rights, the environment and world peace. At home, gardening was a passion. A gathering in Bruce's honour will be held Sunday, April 13 at 2 pm in the University of Victoria Chapel.
