MACKENZIE, ISOBEL GERTRUDE The death of Isobel Gertrude MacKenzie, widow of the late Robert MacKenzie, occurred Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at the age of 83 at Mill Cove Nursing Home. Born in Campbellton, NB, Isobel was the daughter of the late George and Edna (Sullivan) Allingham. After raising their family in Campbellton, she and her husband spent many years in Edmundston where both were employed at Fraser Papers Inc. She joined the Canadian Women's Army Corp. during the Second World War and remained a life member of the organization until her death. She was also a life member of the Eastern Star and affiliated with the United Church. Following the death of her husband, Isobel moved to Fredericton where she spent a few years closer to her family until failing health forced her to move into the nursing home. Isobel is survived by her daughter Cheryl Chapple of Fredericton; sons, Alan (Sharman) of Sackville, NS and David (Rhonda) of Moncton; a brother, John Allingham of Winnipeg; grandchildren, Keith (Sonya) and Larry (Joanne) of Fredericton, Tania (Trevor) of Sackville, NS, Laura of Halifax, NS and Karen (Joel) of Halifax, NS, Donny and Donna of Kamloops, BC, Ian of Kelowna, BC and Cory of Moncton; 10 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a daughter Beverly Clarke; a son-in-law Larry Chapple; and brothers Edmund "Bud" Allingham and William "Bill" Allingham. Although there will be no public visitation, the family welcome friends to join them for the funeral service at Bishop's Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 1:00 PM. Rev. David Dewar will officiate. Interment will be private for family only at the Upper Maugerville Baptist Cemetery. Memorials to the Alzheimer's Society or the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family. An Eastern Star Tribute Service will be held at the funeral home Saturday at 12:45 PM.
