DONALD ROBERT DEWOLFE

DEWOLFE, DONALD ROBERT Donald Robert DeWolfe of Fredericton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 27, 2008 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born in Fernmount, New Brunswick on February 2, 1921, he was the son of the late Walter and Rhoda (Forbes) DeWolfe. After serving overseas in WWII, he returned to Canada and worked for CP Railway until 1961. For the rest of his career, Dad drove various trucks until he retired in 1994 from Day and Ross as an independent broker. Dad loved to play the guitar and sing, liked to garden, enjoyed Hockey Night in Canada cheering for Toronto Maple Leafs, relished the history of the steam engine trains and enjoyed four wheeling. He was a member of the Canadian Legion Branch #4. Besides his wife Grace, he is survived by his sons, Peter (Mary), Robert (Lana); daughters, Jeanette Harris (Leonard), Judith Lockwood (John), Susan DeWolfe and Sharon Doherty (Philip); step son, Donnie MacLean (Michelle); and step daughter, Karen MacLean; the mother of his children, Joan DeWolfe; two sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law, 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, William, Harry and Barker; two nieces and one nephew. There will be visitation at Bishop's Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Tuesday from 3:00 to 5:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at Bishop's on Thursday, May 1, 2008 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Gil MacKenzie officiating. Upon cremation an interment will take place in the Rusagonis Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, donations may be made in his memory to the NB Lung Association.
