MARGARET ELIZABETH MD CHURCHILL
CHURCHILL, MARGARET ELIZABETH MD Margaret Elizabeth Churchill, MD of Hampton, NB, passed away April 25, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Margaret was born 12 January 1934 to Randolf and Eva (Kenney) Churchill of Brass Hill, Shelburne County, NS. She attended Dalhousie University and received a BSc and her Medical Degree in 1960. Following her post graduate work in Pediatrics at The Children's Hospital in London, Ontario, and The Montreal Children's Hospital, she became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, for Pediatrics. In 1964 she started a solo Pediatric Practice in Yarmouth, NS until 1990. She was Medical Director of Yarmouth Hospital from 1989 to 1991. She was also Past President of the Nova Scotia Medical Society. For several years she volunteered in Hospital Accreditation in the Maritime Provinces. In 1992, Margaret retired to Hampton, NB. She had a wide variety of interests that included painting and a true love of nature. She made many friends in the Saint John Naturalists Club, the Kings County Historical Society and was an ardent supporter of the Imperial Theater. She put enthusiasm into everything she undertook and in her own words, "lived by the day and didn't live by regrets." She was recognized for outstanding volunteer service to the Dr. V. A. Snow Centre in Hampton. Margaret is survived by cousins: Blanche Baker, Dartmouth, NS; Nettie Kenney, Jordan Falls, NS; John and (Gail) Kenney, Robert and (Lucille) Kenney, Jimmy and (Rosalie) Kenney, all of Barrington, NS; Rosalie (Perry) McMullin, Saint John, NB; Marianne (Perry) Sears, Cape Island, NS; Jay Perry, Halifax, NS; and Michael Perry, NWT. A special thanks to Dr. M. Burnell, Dr. W. Smith and the staff of 5A-South; Dr. Chris O'Brien and the staff of the Palliative Care Unit, and to Dr. Ed Phillips. Your kindness was truly appreciated. To Karen MacDonald, a special thank you for making the past year the best it could be. Margaret has requested cremation and no funeral service. There will be a memorial service held in Yarmouth, NS at a later date. Donations in memory on Margaret may be made to Palliative Care, Hospice Saint John, The Dr. V.A.
