RENATE M. G. WILLIAMS
WILLIAMS, RENATE M. G. Renate M. G. Williams, 72, of Moncton, with her loving family at her side, passed away peacefully at her residence on Thursday, April 10, 2008. Born in Königsberg, East Prussia, she was the daughter of the late Erich and Margarete (Matz) Selbstaedt. Renate was a retired school teacher at Harrison Trimble High School. In past years, she was very active in the Moncton and New Brunswick Kidney Foundations, both of which she was a past president. She was a member and past president of the German Canadian Club and was awarded the Commemorative Medal for the 125th Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada in recognition of her significant contributions to compatriots, community and to Canada (1992). Following her retirement, she taught German privately and was a translator for German patients at both the Moncton Hospital and the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont. She was actively involved in square dancing and round dancing for over 30 years; enjoyed tai chi and was a gourmet cook. Renate will be sadly missed by her husband of 50 years, Donald Williams; daughters, Stephanie Coffin (David), Fredericton, Erika Williams, Halifax, Christine Williams-Laurence (Bill), Halifax; her loving grandchildren, Eric, Alex, Evan; sisters, Erika, Germany, Annelore, Spain; brother, Christian Selbstaedt, Germany; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, predeceased by brothers, Uwe, Hartwig. No visitation by request. Funeral service at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995), Saturday, May 3, 2008, 1:00 pm, Pastor David Milette officiating. Reception following the service.
