SISHTA, DR. SHIVA KUMAR The death of Dr. Shiva Kumar Sishta occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, on Wednesday, April 30, 2008. Dr. Shiva Kumar Sishta was born in India in 1929. Completed his medical degree in 1953. Selected for training in Psychiatry at the All India Institute of Mental Health, Bangalore, where he got his degree in D.P.M. in 1958. He functioned as a Chief Medical Officer, in Hyderabad Mental Hospital, Andhra Pradesh, India till 1970. He immigrated and worked in England till 1974. He then immigrated to Canada in 1974 and became a Canadian Citizen. He went into solo private practice, setting up his office in Fredericton Medical Clinic in association with Dr. E. Chalmers Hospital. He retired in July 1994. During his professional career in Psychiatry which spanned 40 years,he acquired degrees of D.P.M. ( from India), M.R.C.Psych. from England and F.R.C.P. (C) from Canada. He researched and published numerous articles on Psychiatry. He was President of New Brunswick Psychiatric Association. He enjoyed travelling far and wide and enjoyed every minute of it. He enjoyed golfing, entertaining people at his home, ballroom dancing and since of late he enjoyed reading a good book. He is survived by his wife, Philomena (Albuquerque); one daughter, Aruna; two sons, Purna Chand and Uday Shankar. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Bhavini (Patel) Sishta and two wonderful grandsons, Anil & Dilan. He was also blessed with some very loving and caring nieces and nephews in India, Abu Dhabi, England, Switzerland and New York State. Special thanks to Drs. Bruce, Noftall, Pascual and all their staff. Special thanks also goes to the staff of the Chalmers Hospital Blood collection department, the Extra Mural Program as well as the Palliative Care Unit for making life a little easy at a very difficult time. Memorial service will be held at McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home on Saturday, May 3rd, 2008 at 2:00 pm. Rev. Gerald White officiating. A reception to follow.
