HOVEY, RETA (HAWKES) The passing of Reta (Hawkes) Hovey, wife of the late Dell McAloon, of Fredericton, occurred on May 3, 2008 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on September 12, 1923 in Tay Creek, NB, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Bertha (Armstrong) Hawkes. Reta loved her family and had great devotion to Saint Anne, making annual pilgrimages to her shrine at Saint-Anne de Beaupre in Quebec. Reta is survived by her children, Edward (Pauline) McAloon of New Brunswick, Anne (Chris) Baetsen of Winnipeg, MB, Kathleen (Eugene) Kervin, Patrick McAloon, both of New Brunswick, Marie (Barry) St. Cyr of St. Albert, AB, Susan (Hardy) Amos, Michael (Janet) McAloon, Joan (Eugene) Guerette, Frederick McAloon, Christopher McAloon, Gerard "Jerry" McAloon all of New Brunswick and David "Joe" (Sharon) Constantine of BC; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and first husband, Reta was predeceased by her children, Joseph and Gerald McAloon; brothers, Garnet, Pat, Gerald and Fred; sisters, Olga, Alma, Viola, Ethel, Beatrice "Sister Clotilde" and Florence; second husband, Malcolm "Mack" Hovey; daughter-in-law, Janice (MacLean) McAloon. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from St. Dunstan's Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at 12 pm with Rev. Gerald M. White as celebrant. Pallbearers will be Dana Kervin, Justin Chan, Nathan Chan, Adam Amos, Jonathan McAloon and Brent Hawkes. Interment will take place at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Stanley, NB. In lieu of flowers by the family's request, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick would be appreciated by the family. The family wishes to thank Dr. Shaus, Dr. Martin, Dr. Pniak, the nurses of 4SE and 4SW, the doctors and nurses of Emergency, Susan Kettela, pastoral care and all those involved with Reta's care during her time at the hospital, as well as Rev.
