JOANNE MARIE MEADOWS
MEADOWS, JOANNE MARIE (LEGACÉ) JoAnne Meadows passed away suddenly at her home in Fredericton on Saturday, May 3, 2008, at the age of 67. Born on April 7, 1941, JoAnne was the daughter of the late Rena and Thomas Legacé of Milltown, NB. She was the oldest of four children. JoAnne left Milltown and moved to Fredericton in 1958 and began working with the provincial government for the Department of Natural Resources, where she met her husband, Barry. She later worked for Maritime Bricklayers Ltd. When JoAnne and Barry eventually retired, they thoroughly enjoyed spending their days together; whether it was in their sun porch, on their back deck overlooking the river, traveling to visit family and friends in Niagara Falls and Florida, or just carrying out their everyday responsibilities at home. They were always together. JoAnne had many hobbies. She was an avid reader, she enjoyed doing cross stitch and crafts, and she played Bridge. She was also a volunteer for the NB Lung Association and the Red Cross. When she was young she played basketball and participated in music festivals and that love of music followed her throughout her lifetime. JoAnne sang bass as a member of the Elm City Echoes in Fredericton, as well as in a quartet called the "J" Birds. JoAnne loved getting to know everyone that she met. She was a true people person. She could make friends with anyone, and always did so effortlessly. Everyone that knew her will remember her kind, compassionate, generous and fun-loving spirit. She and Barry formed many lasting friendships over the years that meant a great deal to them. But the most important thing to JoAnne was her family. In addition to her husband Barry, JoAnne is survived by her son, Jarret and his wife Melissa of Fredericton; her sister, Carmeline Avery of St. Stephen, her sister, Sandra Jardine of Fredericton; her brother, Jeff Legacé and his wife Janice of Fredericton; nieces, Trudi Jardine and Katherine Legacé both of Fredericton; and several special cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, Rena and Thomas Legacé; her brother-in-law, Paul Jardine of Fredericton, and her brother-in-law, Bev Avery of St. Stephen. The family will accept visitors on Wednesday, May 7 at Bishop's Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, and 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Messages of condolence can be made online at http://www.bishopsfuneralhome.com. The funeral service will be held at St. Dunstan's Roman Catholic Church, 120 Regent Street, on Thursday, May 8 at 12:00pm, immediately followed by a reception at the Monsignor Boyd Family Centre. A private interment ceremony will be held at a later date. Honorary Pallbearers are Don Nelson, Louis George, Bob MacLaggan, Bryan Walker, Robert (RHB) McLaughlin, and Hugh Haswell. Donations to the NB Lung Association, the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the charity of the donor's choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
