Vern Williamson of Cardross passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 11, 2009 with his family by his side. Vern was born April 22, 1926 and was raised on the family farm. He attended the Bliss Lake School then worked the family farm until well into his 70's, remaining there until his passing. Vern was a humble, gentle and caring man who loved life on the farm; enjoying the solitude and peace it offered. He lived a hard-working, uncomplicated life and appreciated all the things the farm provided. He was a good friend to many and in his younger years, kept involved in community life, participating in baseball and curling. He enjoyed his neighbours and was always willing to lend a helping hand to others. He looked forward to his family visits in Moose Jaw, particularly enjoying his nieces as much as they enjoyed visiting the farm. Vern is predeceased by his parents David and Emily Williamson, brothers Lyle and Keith (Eileen) Williamson and is survived by his nephews Ross (Debbie) of Calgary, AB, Scott (Karen) and children, Morganne, Madison, Cody and Caitlyn; and sister-in-law, Marj Williamson of Moose Jaw and special friend Bertha Seevers of Cardross. The Service of Remembrance will be held at W.J. Jones & Son Chapel on Thursday, January 15, 2009 at 1:30 pm. Reverend John Carley will officiate. Memorialization will take place at Prairie Memorial Columbarium. Memorials to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St.W., Moose Jaw, S6H 2M2, would be appreciated.
