ALICE EMILY COREY

COREY, ALICE EMILY (née JONES) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alice Corey on Thursday, June 5th, 2008. Born in Truro, NS, she was the daughter of the late Major Isaac and Major Helen (Ladd) Jones and wife of the late Claude E. Corey. Above all else, Alice was a devout Christian, Mother and Grandmother. Prior to marriage she fulfilled her faith through a career in the Salvation Army ministry. She later met her husband Claude and settled into family life. Unfortunately, Claude died at a young age prompting Alice to move to Fredericton with her family. It was there that she decided to begin a career in Life Insurance with Metropolitan Life. In 1971 she became the first female sales agent in Canada and continued her work until her retirement. Alice always had a strong mind and faith which she unfailingly kept until the end. She will be sadly missed by many, but especially by her children, David Corey (Pam), Dr. Gregory Corey, Kathy Corey (Randy Morehouse), Joan Bartlett (John) and William "Bill" Corey all of Fredericton, NB; her grandchildren, Adrian, Robyn, Blair and Ashley Corey, Jennifer and Jamie Greencorn and Amanda and Emily Bartlett all of Fredericton, NB; as well as her sister, Grace Benson (Rev. Rosevelt "Ted") of Fredericton, NB. Predeceased by her parents; husband, Claude; brother, William Jones; as well as a sister, Gwen Jones. Visitation will be held at McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home on Saturday, June 7th, 2008 from 12 to 2 pm with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 pm. Rev. Paul Brooks officiating. Interment will take place in the Glassville United Church Cemetery on Sunday, June 8th, 2008 at 2:00 pm. Alice had a great love for flowers but if preferred donations may be made to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Canadian Diabetes Association. www.mcadamsfh.com (458-9170)
