ELSIE ALUREDA SMITH
SMITH, ELSIE ALUREDA Elsie Alureda Smith of Fredericton, N.B. passed away on June 19, 2008 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church. Born in Southside, Cape Sable Island, N.S. she was the daughter of the late Corbett and Evelyn (Purdy) Nickerson. She will be deeply missed by her husband of 58 years, James A. Smith; and by her children, Eldridge Nickerson (Carolyn) of Cape Sable Island, N.S., Evie Estey (Bud) of Chetwyn, B.C., Edward Smith (Wendy) of Fredericton, N.B., Donald Smith of Edmonton, Alberta; three granddaughters, Kathy Grundy (Rob), Kelly Parks (Scott), Jill Ward (Jeff); and three precious great granddaughters, Isabella, Zoe and Gabrielle. She is also survived by her sisters, Linnie Acker, Barrington, N.S., Barb Trimper, Barrington, N.S., Mary Jean Bachel, Simcoe, Ontario, Nancy MacCaul, Halifax, N.S.; and predeceased by one brother, Corbett Junior. She will be deeply missed by her wonderful friend, Irene Dickinson, no truer friend to be found. Elsie was dedicated to Jim and could always be found in the barn on race night taking on the roll of "Chief Groomer" in the later years she left the post of "Chief Groomer" and became Jim's number one fan in the grand stand along with her friend Irene. If the truck was leaving for the camp, Elsie was sure to be in the passenger seat. She loved fishing and hunting and most of all, a serious game of scrabble! Always a story to be told of her and Jim's many trips to the Yukon. Elsie was a member of the Imperial Rebecca's Lodge No. 102. The Rebecca's will hold a tribute service at the funeral home Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. The family will receive visitors at McAdam's Select Community Funeral, 160 York Street, Fredericton, on Friday, June 20th, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will take place at St. Paul's United Church, on Saturday, June 21st, 2008 at 2:00 PM with The. Rev. Paul Ross officiating. Interment will take place in the Fredericton Rural Cemetery immediately following a reception in the Fraser Memorial Hall. Paul Bearers will be, Ross Randall, Ken Eagle, Roy Dickinson, Ian Abercrombie, Darrel Bruce and Lonnie Stokes.
