HORNE, SAMUEL EVERETT The death of Samuel Everett Horne of Waterville Sunbury Co. NB occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Saturday, June 21st, 2008 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Glace Bay, Cape Breton Island, he was the son of Everett Horne and Helen (Drinkwater) Slocum and step son of Vera Horne and the loving husband of Dereta Horne. Sam retired from the Military Armoured Corp in 1976. It was after his retirement he studied to become a Stationary Engineer and worked at the UNB Heating Plant until 1993. He enjoyed camping and spending time with family and special friends. He loved to paint Folk Art, which many of them were sold around the world. His special hobbies were collecting stamps and coins but he especially loved the time spent with his grandchildren and faithful canine companion Oliver. Survived by his parents; loving wife Dereta; step mother, Vera; two sons, Chad (Heather) of Waterville, Sunbury Co, and Chet (Financee Tracey) of Victoria, BC; grandchildren, Cody, Drayton and Samantha; two sisters, Margaret Horne-Imbeault (Steve Paul) of Dartmouth, NS and Marie Spence (Bryan) of Barrie ON; brother-in-law, Ken Harper and his wife Chris, and sister-in-law, Arlene Harper; as well as several nieces and nephews. A special thank you to the Doctors and Nurses at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital Palliative Care Unit for the wonderful care Sam received while he was a patient there you will never be forgotten. Predeceased by one brother in law, Ralph Harper. Visitation will be held at Oromocto Select Community Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 25th, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 26th, 2008 at 2:00 pm at the Oromocto Funeral Home Chapel. Padre Malcolm Berry will officiate. Interment will be held at the Geary French Lake Waterville Cemetery later date.
