WALDO LAWSON MITCHELL
MITCHELL, WALDO LAWSON The passing of Waldo Lawson Mitchell of Fredericton, NB, husband of the late Clara (Amos) Mitchell, occurred on Friday, July 11, 2008 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on December 3, 1921 in Marysville, NB, he was the son of the late Bruce and Bessie (Briggs) Mitchell. He was a member of Marysville United Church, where he sang in the choir for over 50 years. He was a Veteran of WWII in the Canadian Armed Forces "Royal Canadian Air Force". Waldo worked at the Cotton Mill and as a Supervisor of Maintenance at the DECH. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 15. Waldo enjoyed square dancing and singing. Waldo is survived by his daughters, Donna and Janet Mitchell both of Fredericton, NB, Cindy (Jack) Mason of Douglas, NB; two grandchildren, Katie (Matthew) Cougle of Douglas, NB and Adam Russell-Mason of Vernon, BC; great grandson, Jacob Cougle; sister-in-law, Isabelle Scott of Fredericton, NB; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Waldo was predeceased by his sister, Ellen Mitchell; brothers, Leroy, Lester, Norman, Darrell and Ron. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 15 are asked to assemble on Wednesday at 7 pm for a tribute service. A Memorial Service will take place at York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at 2 pm with Rev. Joan MacDonald officiating. Interment will take place in the Alexander Gibson Memorial Cemetery.
