MENG, SHUYUAN Peacefully and surrounded by her family, the death of Shuyuan Meng occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Monday, July 21, 2008 at the age of 70 after a short but courageous battle with cancer. She leaves behind her husband of 45 years, Chao Ho. Dearly loved mother of Joanne (Jeff) of Ottawa, ON, Julian (Patricia) of Fredericton, NB, and Mary (Vincent) of Haverhill, Massachusetts. Cherished and proud grandmother of Ben, Daniel, Matthew, Ryan and Alison. She is also survived by her brother of Taipei, Taiwan; and sister of Jinan, China. She was born in Jinan, China and attended elementary, middle and high school in Taipei, Taiwan. She graduated from National Taiwan University before coming to Montreal, Canada in 1962. She moved to Fredericton with her husband in 1969 and set about to build a new life for her and her family. Along with raising her family, she worked for the New Brunswick Government for 15 years as a computer analyst and retired at the age of 55. She also was one of the co-founding members of the Chinese Cultural Association which recently celebrated its 30th anniversary. She worked very hard to settle into life in Canada and she did so without fail. She would tell you her greatest love was her grandchildren. She will forever be remembered for her kindness to others. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for the care and concern shown by many friends and neighbors. The family also wishes to thank Dr. I. MacDonald, Dr. S. Grant, Dr. C. Stuart, the Extramural Program as well as all of the nursing staff who cared for her in her last days. Visitation will be held at McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home on Friday, July 25, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, July 26, at 2:00 pm in the chapel of McAdam's Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery immediately following the service.
