MCCURDY, JEAN EMILY Jean Emily McCurdy of Fredericton, NB, wife of Donald McCurdy, passed away on October 6, 2008 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on May 7, 1922 in St. Stephen, NB, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Ida (McCarty) Leavitt. During her working years she was employed as a ward secretary at the Moncton Hospital. She was also a wonderful homemaker and always had a welcoming home. Jean loved travelling and especially loved camping and the outdoors. Her grandchildren and her great grandchildren meant the world to her. In addition to her husband, Jean is survived by her daughters, Geraldine Sears of Fredericton, NB and Carol (Grant) Bridge of Pickering, On; son, David (Heather) of Quispamsis, NB; grandchildren, Patrick and Joe Sears, Anitra Gamble, Jennifer Bridge, Dean and Derrick McCurdy and eight great grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Johnson, Joyce Sellers and Jackie Leavitt; brother, Raymond Leavitt of St. Stephen, NB; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Jean was predeceased by her sister, Mary Richards and brother, Jimmy Leavitt. Visitation will be at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Wednesday October 8, 2008 from 2 pm until service time at 3 pm with Pastor Donald McCarty officiating. Interment will take place in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Moncton, NB. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor's choice, would be appreciated by the family.
