THOMPSON, JOHN A much loved and loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend, John Douglas Thompson, formerly of Moncton, NB, died peacefully at his home in Dartmouth, NS in the early morning hours of Saturday, November 29, 2008, ending his courageous battle with cancer. Born in Fredericton, NB, John was the son of the late John (Jack) Wesley Thompson and Marilyn (Wheeler) Thompson Kerr (husband, William P. Kerr). John is survived by his wife and best friend Elizabeth Anne (Tucker); by his two sons, Ian Reginald and his wife Melissa, and Barrett Wesley, and by his mother. Also left to mourn John's passing are his six siblings, Cindi Livingstone and her husband Darryl, Libby Penosky and her husband Barry, Tim Thompson and his wife Linda, Heather McKinnon, Diane Thompson, Sandra Sheridan and her husband Wes, and Elizabeth's siblings, Diane Poirier and her husband Alfie, Keith Tucker, Heather Austin and her husband Bob. As well, the loss of John is grieved by a large and loving extended family of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins, by dear friends, and by Zanessa. Married in 1975, John and Elizabeth embraced life, their boys, and each other through thirty three years of adventure. Their love for each other and the elegance of their union was reflected for all to see in their daily thoughtful treatment of each other and in the intricate, matched steps of the dancing they so enjoyed. A graphic designer by profession, John was employed for the last twelve years as Art Director at Compass Communications of Halifax, NS. He was committed to perfection in his work, and in his private life he generously shared with family and friends the gifts of his passion for music, painting and nature. To stand in a garden created by God and lovingly shaped by John's talented hands was to experience gentle moments of peace and serenity. John will be remembered as a person with a deep, compassionate nature, as an artist in the truest sense of the word, and as a man who cherished relationships and family above all else. A Memorial service in celebration of John's life will be held at First Moncton Baptist Church, corner of Queen and Church Streets, Moncton, NB, on Saturday, December 6, 2008 at 1:00 p.m., Rev.
