MCSORLEY, ETHEL ELIZABETH "BETTY" B.A. The death of Betty (Scott) McSorley of Fredericton, NB occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Monday, December 1st, 2008. Born in Douglas, NB, she was the daughter of the late Roland and Margaret (Currie) Scott and wife of the late Thomas L. McSorley. Betty graduated in 1933 from the Douglas School, Ponds Secretary School and worked for several years in that field. Later, she graduated from Saint Thomas University, with a BA in Psychology. She was a past member of the Catholic Women's League and the Silver Dolphins Club and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxillary, Branch #4 and of the Stepping Stone Seniors Club. Betty is survived by daughters, Judi Sloat (Harry) and Beth Wright (Phillip) all of Fredericton, NB, and Theresa Weatherby (Peter) of Harvey; sons, Robert (Janice) and Roly (Mary Beth) all of Fredericton, NB; sister, Freida Lundy of Toronto, ON; grandchildren, Michael (Shelley) and Patrick Sloat, Kathleen, Bryan, and Vanessa McSorley-Arseneau (Paul), Michael, Andrew and Jamie Wright and Katie, William and Ryan Weatherby; great-grandsons, Derek Connors and Anderson Arseneau; great-granddaughter, Fiona Wright-Chevarie; great great-granddaughter, Kaley and several nieces and nephews. Betty is also survived by her caregiver and friend Janice Oullette. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas; son David; daughter Kathy and sister Alice Williams. The family will receive visitors at McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home, 160 York Street, Fredericton, on Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, December 4th, 2008 at 2:00 PM with Fr. Monte Peters as Celebrant. A reception will take place in the church hall immediately following the funeral mass. The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #4 Ladies Auxillary will hold a tribute service at the funeral home on Wednesday at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place in St. Anthony's Cemetery at a later date.
