SCOTT, VERNON ELLSWORTH Vernon met a peaceful end to his many health problems on Wednesday March 4th 2009, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, where he was greatly cared for with many considerations by his doctor; Mr A. Plummer, nurses who treated him as one of their own. Vernon Ellsworth Scott, Born in Saint John, NB on July 29th 1920. He was the son of the late Sadie and Ellsworth Scott. He is survived by his daughter Gillian Randall Scott; grandchildren Daniel Summerville and Gemma Randall both of England; nephew Rick Isherword of Calgary Alberta. Vernon served his country in WWII, he was posted in England, where he met his first love Freda; who became mother to their daughter Gillian. He was then posted in Belgium, Holland and Italy. On returning to Canada Vernon tried his hand at many different occupations; when eventually moving to Fredericton, where he worked for many years until his retirement, as a manager at Medjacks Furniture store. He was a man who never minced his words too well, but had a good sense of humour to compensate. Vernon was a member of the Kiwanis for many years, where he served proudly. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4. In his last 8 years, Vernon was united with his long-lost daughter Gillian, who came to Canada to be with him. It was a missing link which when joined became a great joy in both of their lives. There will be no visitation but a funeral service will be held on Monday March 9th 2009 at the Wilmot United Church at 2pm. Internment to take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Fredericton Food Bank or the SPCA, with our thanks. A Legion tribute will be held on the day of the service.
