1928-2008 Sydney/Reserve Mines With her family by her side, a wife, mother and grandmother Charmaine Mary (Syms) Dockrill passed away peacefully following a lengthy illness Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney Born in Reserve Mines, she was a daughter of the late Stella Syms and the late William Chiasson of St. Andrews, Newfoundland. Charmaine is survived by her husband of 47 years, Clarence ‘Doc’ Dockrill; her children, Douglas, Annapolis Valley, Paul (Michelle), Sydney, Debbie, Sydney, and Robert (Deborah), Glace Bay; grandchildren, Laura, Kayla, Derrick and Kenzie; other relatives and family in Newfoundland. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Ernest Chiasson and many aunts and uncles. Charmaine was a loving mother to more than 30 foster children. She was a member of St. Eugene’s CWL and a longstanding member of the Dominion Pensioners. Her favourite pastimes were darts and bingo and she was also an avid bowler. Visitation will be held this evening (Wednesday) 7-9 p.m. and Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Curry’s Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay. Funeral Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated Friday, 11 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, Rev. Gerald Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
