MURRAY LEROY MOFFITT

MOFFITT, MURRAY LEROY Murray L. Moffitt of Harvey, York County, NB passed away March 16, 2009 with his family by his side at Harvey Community Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. Murray was born on October 27, 1933 in Harvey Station to the late Roy and Mabel (Hamilton) Moffitt. He was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church and a former member of Harvey L. O. L. #58. He was an indoor-outdoor painter by trade and together with his wife Shirley and family, operated the Hillview Diner for many years. Murray loved the outdoors, hunting and going to the woods. He had a good sense of humour and enjoyed meeting all his friends, young and old, at the Harvey Gas Bar. Murray is survived by his wife of 52 years, Shirley C. (Wilson) Moffitt; his sons, Dennis and Greg; his daughters, Kathryn Marr (Bill) and Lisa Morneau (Richard); his grandchildren, Ashley and Ryan Morneau and Jessica and Matthew Marr; his two furry friends, Smokey and Princess; several cousins and many friends. Visiting hours will be held at Swan Funeral Home, 1826 Highway 3, Harvey Station on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church, Harvey Station on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 3 p.m. with Rev. Bonnie Wynn officiating. A reception will follow at Knox Hall. Interment will be later at Harvey Settlement Cemetery. Honourary pallbearers will be Floyd Moffitt, Aubrey Moffitt, Manley Briggs, Henry James, Paul Patterson, Red Hayes and Jack Hamilton. Active pallbearers will be Keith Moffitt, Vaughn Little, David Little, Arthur Clark, Roy Patterson and Reid Cleghorn.
