1912-2008 We are sad to announce the passing of Mildred Catherine ‘Millie’ MacNeil on April 15, 2008, at Maple Hill Manor in New Waterford. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed by her family. Millie had an excellent sense of humour and was a wonderful cook. She enjoyed bowling, darts and was a member of the New Waterford legion. Millie was a devout member of the Catholic church. Born in Marble Mountain on Nov. 12, 1912, Millie was the daughter of the late John Joseph Alexander ‘Jack’ McNamara and Marie Henriette ‘Rita’ Ranson. She was the granddaughter of Michael Benjamin McNamara and Catherine Delaney of Lower River Inhabitants and William Ranson and Veronique ‘Veronica’ Langlois of D’Escousse. Millie is survived by her daughters, Patsy MacNeil (Eddie), Sydney River, Theresa Williams, New Waterford and son-in-law, Willard Williams, New Waterford; grandchildren, Cathy Williams Wilson (Clayton), Bedford, Terry Williams Berends, Digby, Debbie Ramsdale MacDonald (Ned), Moncton, Ted Williams (Karen), Toronto, Glen Williams (Terry), Toronto, Dr. Kevin MacNeil (Denise), Culver, Ind., Dr. Eddie MacNeil (Susan), London, Ont., Vincent MacNeil (Suzanne), Bedford; great-grandchildren, Matthew Boudreau, Andrew Boudreau, Courtnay Wilson, Crista Wilson, Jamie-Lee Berends, Jeffrey Berends, Mark (Claire) MacDonald, Adam MacDonald, Keegan Williams, Kyle Williams, Clara MacNeil, Sophie MacNeil, Maggie MacNeil, Clara MacNeil, Sarah MacNeil, Ian MacNeil; great-great-grandchildren, Matthew MacDonald, Caitlyn MacDonald, Alex MacDonald; and one sister, Betty (Hinchey), New Waterford. Millie was predeceased by her husband, Hector Joseph MacNeil (son of Francis Hector MacNeil and Mary MacNeil) in 1973; eldest daughter, Mary Williams (2005) and son, Francis James ‘Frankie’ (1941) in infancy; granddaughter, Linda Williams Boudreau (Hughie), New Waterford (2002); siblings, Margaret (Chester) Jewer, Mary ‘May’ (Jack) Girouard, Isabel ‘Bell’ Tanner, Joe (Marjorie), Leonard (Ruby), George (Ethyl), Evelyn (Malcolm) MacNeil and John Austin, who died in infancy and another brother who died at birth. We would like to thank the staff and volunteers of Maple Hill Manor in New Waterford for the wonderful, loving care they gave Millie in her later years. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. There will be no visitation by request. A funeral mass of celebration will take place Friday, April 18, at 11 a.m. in the Parish of St. Leonard, St. Agnes Church with burial in the parish cemetery at a later date. A luncheon will follow the funeral mass in St. Agnes parish hall. Donations in Millie’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to V.J.
