PALMER, MARY RENEE It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mary Renee Palmer announces her passing at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on April 5th, 2009 at the age of 91. She was wife of the late Richard Palmer and leaves to mourn her son, R. Anthony (Emily) Palmer of Sussex; daughter, Gay (Richard H.) Campbell of Littleton, Colorado; grandsons, Andrew Palmer (Cynthia Benson) of Quispamsis and Michael (Michele) and Christopher Campbell of Littleton, Colorado; great grandchildren, Madylin and Carson. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard, parents, George and Emily Burtonwood, brother, George Burtonwood and sister, Sybil Burtonwood. Born in Douglas, Isle of Man, on January 28th, 1918 she graduated from Douglas High School with Matriculation in 1934 and attended the London College of Secretaries to become a legal secretary. She was a member of the British Army and in 1943 married Captain Richard Palmer. In 1944 she came to Canada as a war bride with their eight month old infant son, Richard Anthony. During her life she was a national, provincial and primary Life Member of IODE, of which she was provincial president from 1958-1962. She was a life long member of the United Church of Women of Canada, a supporter of the ACW, a member of the St. George's and St. Andrew's Societies and also a friend of the Art Gallery. There will be no visitation at her request. The memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 8th, 2009 at 2pm with The Very Rev. Keith Joyce officiating. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home, 458-9170. www.mcadamsfh.com
