WILLIAM BRIAN SWEENEY

SWEENEY, WILLIAM BRIAN The passing of William Brian Sweeney, husband of the late Muriel Frances Sweeney, of Fredericton, formerly of Stanley, NB, occurred on Friday, April 24, 2009 at York Manor Nursing Home. Born on August 12, 1924 in Summit, NB, he was the son of the late Eva (Kennedy) and William Bernard Sweeney. Brian was a Veteran of World War II and later was Maintenance Foreman with the Track Department of the CNR out of Napadogan for 41 years. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Stanley, the Royal Canadian Legion Beaverbrook Branch and a former member of the Napadogan Branch. Brian is survived by his one son; Bill Sweeney (Doreen) of Fredericton, NB, one daughter; Anne Sweeney of Halifax, NS, two granddaughters; Lynn Sweeney-McGinn (Mike) of Toronto, ON, Joanne McNeil (Anthony) of Dartmouth, NS, two great grandsons; Nolan of Toronto, ON, Jackson of Dartmouth, NS, one brother; Richard Sweeney (Leona) of Halifax, NS, one sister-in-law Mary Sweeney of Hamilton, ON, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Brian was predeceased by his daughter-in-law; Jacqueline Sweeney, two brothers; Paul and William Sweeney and three sisters; Anna and Martha Sweeney and Gertrude Chandler. Although there will be no visitation at the family's request, a Funeral Service will take place from York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at 11am with Father Monte Peters officiating. Interment will take place in St. Patrick's Church cemetery.
