23, Big Pond It is with great sadness that we announce the tragic death of John Kinnon McDonald. John was the loving son of Blair and Norma (Joseph) McDonald of Big Pond. He is survived and will be missed by his sister, Christine, Halifax; his twin, Joe, Calgary; his brother, Jamie.Calgary, and his youngest brother Josh, Big Pond; his grandfather, Samuel Joseph; and his special friend and family member, Lita Javillonar. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, John and Marcella McDonald and maternal grandmother, Thelma Joseph. John’s fun loving, quick wit, tremendous humour and large laughter attracted many, many friends. His loyalty and commitment to those friends connected them like brothers. John was a brother to all; a son to many. John established an excellent reputation as an iron-tradesman in Western Canada. JohnnyMac (the Ironworker), we will miss your love, laughter and charm. Visitation for John McDonald will be held at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel, Sydney, April 22, from 7-9 p.m., and April 23 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass to celebrate John’s life will take place Thursday, April 24 at 3 p.m. St. Mary’s Church, Big Pond, with Fr. Joseph Gillis officiating. The burial will be in the parish cemetery, Big Pond. A reception will follow in the Big Pond Community Fire Hall. Donations in John’s memory may be made to Riverview High School’s Scholarship fund. Donation cards will be available at the funeral home or Riverview’s Guidance Department.
