CLARE VIOLA "TOD" CARROLL
CARROLL, CLARE VIOLA "TOD" The death of Clare Viola Carroll of Fredericton, NB, occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Sunday, June 21st, 2009. Born in Chatham, NB, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family and daughter of the late William and Susan (Creamer) Carroll. Clare was a registered nurse and veteran of World War II having served as a Lieutenant in the United States Army. Following the war, she worked for many years as a private duty nurse in New York City. During that time she was nurse to many, including President Herbert Hoover who she cared for during the last 2 years of his life. She then returned to New Brunswick and completed her nursing career in Fredericton. Clare is survived by a cousin Bert Creamer of Chatham, NB and many great-nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her parents; three brothers, Noonan, Roger and Benson and two sisters, Marie Keoughan and Ethel Carten. There will be no visitation by request. A memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church on July 1st, 2009 at 1:00 PM with Fr. Monte Peters officiating. Interment will take place in the Hermitage Cemetery at a later date.
