John Douglas Greenlaw
Date de décès : 18 avril 2008
With sadness, our family announces the peaceful passing of John Douglas Greenlaw on April 18, 2008, at home in Kingsburg, Nova Scotia. Born in San Francisco in 1961, he was a son of Robert and Dorothea (Wallis) Greenlaw. John is survived by his father, Robert and stepmother, Faye, Tennessee; sisters and brothers, Terry Greenlaw (Bill MacGillivray), Kingsburg, Beverly (Christian) Hackshaw, Lunenburg, Rod, California, Pam (Arthur) Cemelli, New York, Rob, Texas and Margo, Pennsylvania; nieces and nephews, Morgan, Helena, Jamie, Carissa, April, Kristin, Lauren, Kaylan, Ember, Alder and Logan; special aunts and uncles and cousins. John was predeceased by his mother, Dorothea. Our family wishes to thank the following people for the outstanding care and compassion given to John during the final days of his illness: Dr. David Abriel and the nurses of the South Shore Health Palliative Care Service, the Continuing Care Program and the VON nurses and Occupational Therapist who helped with his care at home. John lived in several places in Canada and the United States. A natural carpenter and great outdoorsman, John spent many years clearing the land and creating his own homestead in Blanchard, Idaho. His most cherished memories were those of his years and friends in Idaho, his junior and high school years in Sydney, N.S., the summers at our cottage on the Lake when our family lived in Winnipeg and the very special times during our childhood summers spent with grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins at ‘East River House’ on Nova Scotia’s South Shore. John was a kind and gentle brother and friend and will be dearly missed. He loved the outdoors, the sea and ‘all creatures great and small’, especially his dogs, Frisbee and Shade. A memorial service to celebrate John’s life will be held during the summer at Kingsburg Beach in Nova Scotia. In memory of John, you may wish to plant a flower or a tree or a memorial donation may be made to an animal shelter in your area. www.sweenyfuneralhome.ca
