Hammonds Plains/Glace Bay, N.S. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Bill Kazmel, 60, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2008, with his family at his side. Bill was born Oct. 24, 1947, in Glace Bay, N.S. He was a proud civil servant with the RCMP. He retired in October 2004 from his position as Inspector, Officer in Charge of Federal Policing, H Division, receiving Long Service Awards for his 35 years’ service. Bill proudly acted as Aide de Camp for the Lieutenant Governor, a service for which he was honoured to be presented the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal and the Vice-Regal Commendation. While he had a successful and rewarding career, the accomplishment Bill was most proud of was his family. Bill is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 35 years, Sharron (Solo); his three children, Leanne (Craig Dixon), Susanne (Ryan Townsend) and Andrew (Cayla Cowperthwaite); and two granddaughters, Claire and Danielle Dixon. He is also survived by his parents, William and Megan Kazamel; his brothers, Robert (Anna Lee) Kazamel and Michael (Lois) Kazamel; his sisters, Mary Catherine (Charles) MacKinnon, Carol (David) Wadden and Margaret (Bernard) Boone. Bill will also be dearly missed by his many nieces and nephews, relatives, and friends. Cremation has occurred and visitation will be held Thursday, April 17 from 7-9 p.m. at Atlantic Funeral Homes, 125 Sackville Dr., Sackville, N.S. A funeral service will be held Friday April 18, 2 p.m., at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 1288 Bedford Highway, Bedford, N.S. Private burial will be held at St. Anne’s Cemetery in Glace Bay, N.S. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, designated for pancreatic cancer research.
