April 17, 1933-April 21, 2008 With great sadness, we regret to announce the passing of a much loved son, father, grandfather and uncle, John Stanley (Jackie) MacMullin, Monday, April 21, 2008, at the Northside General Hospital. Born in Sydney Mines, he was the son of Irene (Bennison) MacMullin and the late Survine MacMullin. In his earlier years, Jackie worked in Princess Colliery and later sailed on the Great Lakes and was a retired member of the Seafarers International Union. Besides his mother, he is survived by his daughter, Brenda MacMullin, Halifax; sons, David (Linda) MacMullin, Moncton, N.B., and Kevin Hebert, St. Catharines, Ont.; sisters, Eileen Anthony and Margaret White, both of Sydney Mines; brothers, Greg (Brenda), North Sydney, Kevin (Elizabeth ‘Oonna’), Sydney Mines; five grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. We the family, would like to express our sincerest thanks to Dr. Coish for his excellent and compassionate care of Jackie during his illness as well as for the outstanding nursing care on the 5th floor of the Northside General Hospital. He was predeceased by his former wife, Viola Maillot and his brother, Eric. Visitation for the late Jackie MacMullin will be in Fillmore and Whitman Funeral Home, Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 2 p.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Fr. Hugh MacNeil officiating. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. Donations in Jackie’s memory may be made to a charity of choice.
